Hello Ken here. Yes, Annie has been doing ALL the blogging thus far, but I thought I would add my $0.02. (Get it ... two cents.) I know, bad joke.
So, continuing on this costs / money topic. I thought this would be a good blog topic because of two events from today.
First, Andrea from Reece's Rainbow emailed us. She will be sending us a check tomorrow for the grant and donation funds from the Reece's Rainbow web site. This will certainly help with all the costs associated with any adoption.
Secondly, I read the below on another blog site today. The blogger got this information from yet another person's blog. So, I felt it was OK to copy to ours. This topic got my attention as this is always a discussion point in any adoption. Yes, a discussion point from the prospective parents, but in most cases a discussion (or private thought) from family and friends. So, here is the posting that I copied:
A wise person once told us as we were lamenting the cost, that we were not “buying children”, that we could not look at it that way. We had to look at the cost of adoption as “ransom.” Think about it. Anyone of us would give up everything we had if one of our children currently in our home were held for ransom. We would pay whatever it took. Family would join in, friends would join in, strangers would line up to help. No one would think “well that kid deserves being held for ransom because of XYZ” … the thought is terrifying.
The above is so true for all Mothers and Fathers. They would pay any ransom to get one of their kids back. Of course, everyone that knows me would expect me to add. "It depends upon which kid you are talking about." (Joke here!)
The last piece of information for today... Sveta, our Russian coordinator, will be personally taking Julianna's birthday card we sent over with our documents to Julianna's caregivers for delivery. We are anxiously waiting for the day when we can have her birthday party here in our home.
Until next time.
Ken
