Today on the way home from Vincent’s practice, he curiously asked, “What is an heat wave?” Yes, with today’s temperatures in the triple digits for the third consecutive day, we are experiencing a heat wave. How hot is it in Nizhniy Novgorod where Julianna is living right now? According to www.weather.com, the temperature is in the high 80s and low 90s for the next ten days. I would think that we could stretch to say that the weather is comparable to our average temperature in July here in Pennsylvania.
How have we stayed cool? We have gone to the pool either before noon or after 7:00pm at night. The middle of the day is way too hot! Francesca, our flower who wilts in the sun, is scheduled to lifeguard today at the pool from 5:00-9:00. I hope that she finds some shade. She just indicated that she is secretly praying for a thunderstorm during her shift. Dom is working at his grocery store job this afternoon and evening…luckily he is not on the outdoor cart shift.
What to think of this weather? It makes us very happy that we are blessed to have central air in our home. We are also quite happy that we belong to the pool and like to swim. Unfortunately, we spend a great deal of down time inside with the extreme temperatures outside. We are not big television fans and are biding our time until tomorrow when we will hear word from Svetlana about our court date. We hope that we will not have to take two trips!!
Until tomorrow, we will endeavor to stay cool!
