About ten years ago, Kenny and I traveled with our three children at the time to visit his sister, Mary, and her family in California. I remember the change in time and how that effected my functioning for several days of our eight day visit. The time change was a mere three hours difference.
Fast forward to today, - 50 plus hours after our arrival home from Russia. Our stay in Russia was two weeks, and the time difference between here and there is eight hours. Russia of course, is eight hours ahead of us in the US. Just when I was getting used to the time difference between the two countries, it was time to return. No problem, right?
The real challenge though in time changes came when we took the extended trip home from Moscow to Tokyo to Chicago to home. The date of April 17 lasted a very long time. Too bad, it wasn’t April 16, and Kenny truly would have had the longest birthday ever!
Since we’ve been home, Kenny has posted two new video clips of Julianna. We have both spent lots of time the last few days hugging and kissing our children here, talking to them and sharing our experiences that we had with Julianna, and beginning to plan for her homecoming. All of our children missed us while we were gone – some more willing to express it than others! Our jet-lag has slowed us down a bit, but we manage.
The change in time for us will pass until our next trip to Russia to bring Julianna home. With God’s grace, we will be returning to Russia soon so that Julianna can be home with her family at last.
