It’s a good thing the language was in both Russian and English. It really was nothing like the two that we had experienced in the US. Our driver met us with a sign marked with our last and first names. We had our bags and left for Nizhniy Novgorod, a name that we are determined to pronounce correctly before we return. Our driver, named Dmitri, was very nice. He had limited English skills but not as limited as our Russian. Dmitri was an experienced driver. And, yes, our friend, Rita Eichman was right about the driving. Dmitri’s skills were equivalent to those of Nascar driver, Jeff Gordon. At times, during our 4.5 hour car ride, we were traveling 100 mph. Dmitri was not alone in his experienced driving skills, as everyone seemed to drive like they were on the Indy 500. I slept for half of the trip and Kenny dozed as well. Dmitri enjoyed the large Hershey candy bar that we gave to him as a gift.
