Hello Ken here.
Annie asked that I share some of the things that have been going on since she has picked up Julianna from the institution. It has been difficult to communicate with her due to the poor internet speed in Russia. Therefore, Annie has shared some information via Skype using the IM feature only.
I though it would be interesting to post some of the messages from the IM session. I hope you enjoy!
FROM 8/13/2010:
I cried when Julianna fell asleep...God put her on my heart over a year ago and she was literally on my heart. It was touching!
She is a beautiful littler girl who never ceases to amaze me with what she can do and what she knows.
Thank you for trusting! She really did belong with us...
oh....she loves the gummy vitamin Cs....something to put in the blog....and picking on her brother. She kissed him on the nose unexpectedly and he just smiled and looked at me and didn't know what to say. They have developed quite the bond in only 12 hours
She can bless herself and knows to dip in the water at church...b/c I showed her once!!
She said grace with us and followed our lead
Tomorrow we will play in the aparment pavement yard at the end of the block from the church...right where you turn to go to town.
I kept a scoop game for her.
She watched as i hung the laundry on towels in the room...she did the same...amazing
of course she had to carry a bag home from the grocery store
The doctor was not bitchy to me...she's worried that her reputation will be destroyed b/c I took a contagious child...who was rightly mine!
The doctor also said do not bathe her until MOndayl...she hadn't had a bath or shower since August 5. She got 2 today
She's kissed me a hundred times already.
We said prayers tonight at bedtime. She would not go to sleep.
I told her tonight when I got her out of bed to pee...again!...that she will never go back again and that she will always be with Momma. I said, "Do you understand?" And she said, "Da." I really think she understood!
She refused to wear the pullups
She has asked for Daddy a lot.
When we were walking back from the grocery store, she saw a man ahead of us and she kept saying "papa" and pointing. I told her know that you were working and we would see you on the computer until we got home.
she really understands more than you think.
her favorite thing....the sunglasses. She likes the green dress the most...so we're wearing that one home
God is soo good to connect us with Father Mario. he will be back tomorrow. Sister Virginia has been great...can't speak english but we communicate fine. taught me how to run the washing machine
Oh...her second favorite thing...the silly band that Vinnie gave me to wear. When I came back in the room from trying to skype you, leaving her in bed with Dom next to her...she had carefully taking the silly band and pulled up her hair in a ponytail and the fans was off. i asked Dom why the fan was off...she's got his number already. She kept fipping the switch on the power strip and she wasn't listening to him.
She can open child proof bottles, b/c she watched Dom push down and twist the Viatmin Cl...She picked it up and did the same...I told him that he will have to watch very carefully.
She likes her hair clips. oh, she also likes the "her bag". AT first, she carried it everywhere. now, it's her go to bag int he room. She always wants to show Dom her stuff...coloring...or new sandals...or her dresses...
I don't think there's anything that she doesn't like.
She has a good heart! Oh, Doctor gave me the results that they just did on her...blood...full CBC panel Dr also gave me good news...the ultrasound showed NO enlarged spleen!
She listens very well...but you know she can be a stinker...speaking of which when she passed gas...she started laughing! It was so cute.
Dom and I trying to teach her to say, "Excute me" and cover her moth when she burps. She has a large belch ...probably bigger than Vinnie. she knows its not cool to do it now that she's with us.
I felt bad today at the Chirlden's Home. I felt bad b/c....They didn't make it a big deal that the only child EVER to get adopted in the history of this home had been blessed by the grace of God with a family...and nobody really cared. The deputy director, smiling...she was insecure and just kept smiling. Olga said nothing. The director wouldn't take his gift so I left it on the desk. should have brought it back and returend it to Rita. He was ignorant and told sveta she was looking really skinny today. I thought she was going to throw up. The only people who were exictied were a couple of the young girl workers...they must have been the social workers. They asked for our e-mails and gave us theirs. they want us to update them with Julianna's progress.
She has Chicken pox all over her body...even on the soles of her feet in her ears in her head. she doesn't itch though. She did have some erupt yesterday...but none today
Dom really is taken with her...He calls her '"Dommie's girl" She's got his number already
Love, love, love, how she bows at the alter when we walk through to the kitchen. Sister makes it a point to talk with her a lot. I've seen more of her today than any other day.
Dom is like an Oscar...and I'm like a reformed Oscar. (The odd couple.) We would probably eat each other if we did this for long
Sveta told me that if she ever has a son, she wants him to be just like Dominic. later, Dominic said, Mom, that was the ultimate compliment, don't you think? No she wasn't drinking...and I'm putting that in my blog
Julianna is so dear...when I laid down next to her, she had to have a cover on her...I was boiling and had the fan on. She wasn't satisfied with the cover just on her, she had to cover up Momma too. she is so sweet and dear...and those people that haven't met her or the hundreds of children like her and Angelo don't really know what they are missing. We are the lucky ones! They will never leave us. They will love us no matter what...(well...they may get annoyed sometimes)
her speech is good and intelligible.. She needs two/three times/week plus private therapy to get her up to speed. I'm sure Vinnie can help with that!
good night.
I hope you were able to pick up some of the activities they have experience thus far.
I am posting some of the pictures that Dominic put on Facebook.
Until next time,
Kenny
