Today’s Fishing Expedition

Our net was full today when we awoke.  Victoria had responded to all of my e-mails (four in total) and all of Kenny’s (two, I think).  My fourth e-mail response indicated that Sveta promised to call the children’s home today and ask about Julianna.  Yes, I really feel like Kenny and I have been nagging both Victoria and Sveta about having contact with the Children’s Home.  We are just so worried about Julianna.  Later Kenny had two different telephone conversations with Victoria clarifying the forms that she was requesting.  Apparently, we needed to alter a form and get some new forms completed – all by the homestudy agency.  The paperwork stuff is really starting to get to Kenny.  He even created a file entitled “more stupid forms”.  But in the end…we both know it’s better to make all changes now instead of getting to Russia and not having what we need.

Also in our net today, we received the official signed letter from Angelo’s pediatrician.   This adds to our paperwork completion stash.

I was elated to receive a phone call from the parent of one of the students at my school.  In her capacity at the State Department, she checked on our last needed document.  That document is on its way to us now!  Thank you, once again God, for your orchestration.

Kenny was excited to receive the document that he sent to New Jersey to be apostilled, only to learn that the notary forgot to sign the document.  Therefore, the document was returned – NOT apostilled.  Kenny later took care of this “minor” detail.  I hope that it will not delay our process substantially.

When I got home from work, the best catch of the day was a skype message from Victoria.  Sveta spoke with the director of the children’s home where Julianna is. According to Victoria’s conversation with Sveta, “ He said she was really sad the first few days after you left, but they kept telling her Mom and Dad are coming back, showing her pictures, and she is now back to her cheerful self, and healthy.”  I cried when I read it!  So…how do Kenny and I feel…

We are happy that she is okay…now.  We both are feeling good about the fact that she missed us initially.  This is a good sign regarding her attachment and desire to be with us.  It’s also a good sign that the caregivers keep telling her that we are coming back and using the pictures that we left for her to remind her of our time together.  Our feelings of being eager to get to Russia and go to court cannot be contained much longer!!!

There is nothing else in our net at the late hour of twenty-two hundred hours (10:00pm).
